The Route

I guess the first question is why South to North and not the other way round. Mainly it was because LeJog sounds much sexier than Jogle. Jogle sounds like we are off for a casual run around the park.

Actually it was because Britain has a (mainly) prevailing south-westerly wind meaning the chances of headwind are at least reduced to some degree. Also, we decided to have a baptism of fire and get the hills of Cornwall and Devon out of the way first while the legs are still fresh. Details of the planned route are below but this is subject to change.

Day 0 - Saturday 25/6/11 - Travel by train from my house in Hinckley, Leicestershire to Penzance
Day 1 - Sunday 26/6/11 - Penzance to Land's End, then Land's End to Bodmin - 61 miles
Day 2 - Monday 27/6/11 - Bodmin to Tiverton - 80 miles
Day 3 - Tuesday 28/6/11 - Tiverton to Bristol - 65 miles
Day 4 - Wednesday 29/6/11 - Bristol to Ludlow - 75 miles
Day 5 - Thursday 30/6/11 - Ludlow to Chester - 74 miles
Day 6 - Friday 1/7/11 - Chester to Blackpool - 69 miles
Day 7 - Saturday 2/7/11 - Blackpool to Penrith - 80 miles
Day 8 - Sunday 3/7/11 - Penrith to Dumfries - 63 miles
Day 9 - Monday 4/7/11 - Dumfries to Glasgow - 79 miles
Day 10 - Tuesday 5/7/11 - Glasgow to Crianlarich - 69 miles
Day 11 - Wednesday 6/7/11 - Crianlarich to Fort William - 75 miles
Day 12 - Thursday 7/7/11 - Fort William to Inverness - 65 miles
